Topnotch training for Lions Club officers. Traditionally, the Amarillo Downtown Lions Club sends its 1st Vice President to this excellent training forum to prepare him for his year as president. The 2009 Forum will be in Memphis, Tennessee.
Lions World Services for the Blind
LWSB is an official project of Texas Lions. Each year dozens of blind individuals are sent to Little Rock to get vocational training. LWSB is the most comprehensive rehabilitation center in the world, offering a complete personal adjustment program, 13 vocational courses, a vision rehabilitation clinic and training, an assistive technology learning center, job placement assistance, and a college preparatory program. LWSB is accredited by the National Accreditation Council for agencies serving people with Blindness or Visually Impairment.
Leader Dogs for the Blind
Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Michigan is an official project of Texas Lions. It breeds and trains guide dogs. Every year, Texas Lions Clubs send several blind individuals to Rochester to receive training with their own guide dog. The immaculate, modern facilities provide an ideal environment for the blind person to learn the ropes of owning and using a guide dog.
